The Scott Addict 10 bike is unusual in that the bike is hardly top-of-the-line, but features an 860g frame and Dura-Ace components. The bike, which doesn’t even merit more than a number, 10, still builds into a 15.17lbs bike, WorldTour level, and is suitably stiff.
Scott calls the material used here HMF Carbon Fiber. The particulars of the soup are a bit hazy; it’s not as light as their SL or Team frames, but at 860g for the frame and 360g fork, it’s incredibly light stuff. Between the material and shaping, the bike is pretty stiff. The main frame is built as a single unit, with a 1 1/8” to 1 ¼” tapered steerer in front and the widest BB86 bottom bracket shell you can find, the bike is rigid without pounding the rider. The frameset has also received the F01 aero treatment; the leading edges of frame tubes have been molded into aero shapes to minimize overall frame drag. It’s not as aero as their Foil, but the new Addict is more aero than the old Addict. The aero thinking encompasses internal cable runs, as exposed cables are a persistent drag on your speed.
The Addict 10 shares the same racing geometry as Scott’s other Addicts and the Foils as well. The bikes put the rider in an aggressive position without calling for too much attention to steering. It’s easy to slash through a tight peloton, but it doesn’t take too much attention to descend a steep mountain road.
The 10 comes built with a large selection of Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 compments. 9000 is otherwise known as mechanical Dura-Ace, and it is so smooth and light, you’ll wonder why people bother with electronic shifting. The levers are minimal and carbon and sculpted to fit perfectly under your hand. The action is fast and crisp, thanks both to better shifter internals and better lever geometries. The brakes likewise are a huge step forward thanks to the re-defined pivot points; easy one-finger braking and superb modulation. Scott provides a 52/36 semi-compact crank and pairs it with an 11-28 eleven-speed cassette for a wide range of gears with narrow stops in between.
Scott sticks with their Syncros line for the rest of the parts. In some cases, like with the wheels, people might wonder what they have to offer. The answer is plenty. Scott worked with DT Swiss on the wheels, and they offer DT Swiss internals and spokes to go along with DT Swiss-designed Syncros rims. The rims are 21mm wide, 21mm deep, and thanks to the 18/24 spoking arrangement have a 1530g wheelset which is light, stiff, and somwhat aero without carbon-fiber rims. They finish the wheels with Continental Grand Sport Race Folding tires. The 23mm width works well with the rims in terms of fit and aerodynamics.
The Scott Addict 10 is a super-high level bike without the fuss or price tag.
